Rtn Dr Anupama Mane organized a breast cancer awareness program at the annual pilgrimage walk of devotees in Pune last week. She and her team walked from Alandi to Pune, a distance of 20 kms, distributing awareness pamphlets and talking to several groups of women regarding screening. It was a mammoth task considering the fact that there were approx. 2-3 lakh people in the event. Rtn Mane believes it was well worth the effort as they found that ladies were keen to know about cancer symptoms etc. and they interacted with the team actively. Next year she plans to organize the event on a much larger scale. Here’s hoping many of us also join her in her wonderful endeavor. President Sanjiv Kumar was all praise for Anupama’s initiative and had this to say: “This is indeed a very commendable effort, which will go a long way in increasing cancer awareness”
