Rotary 3131 - Project Details

01-07-2016 - 30-06-2017

Cataract and corneal opacity are two of the causes of blindness. The aim of this project is to prevent/cure such blindness through surgeries. This year, we plan to perform 150 cataract surgeries and 100 corneal transplant surgeries for economically backward patients in and around Pune. In cataract surgery, blindness is prevented/cured by inserting an artificial lens in the eye. In corneal transplant, the patient’s cornea is transplanted with a new cornea from a donor. This has been an ongoing project of our club for several years.
