School children are a vulnerable lot. They are getting exposed to so many new technologies at such a fast pace that it leaves them little time to think of its misuses. We as Elders, Parents, and Rotarians owe a duty to this young generation to hold their fingers and take them on the right path, Before it is too late. Rotary Club of Pune Gandhi Bhavan are undertaking cyber awareness projects since the year 2002 and last year took training programs in 15 colleges in association with Pune Police. Rotary Club of Pune Sinhagad Rd also had conducted awareness programs in schools with support of the Company Symantec. DG Mohanji suggested that such efforts undertaken by different clubs should be on soldiered so that we are able to reach school children more effectively and at a larger scale. Under the leadership and guidance of Mohanji , and taking due notice of the fact that children are abused on the internet and are also indulging in illegal activities without really understanding its after effects, Rotary Dist 3131 has initiated this drive of spreading Cyber security and law awareness amongst school students. This activity is conducted in association with Quick Heal Technologies Pvt Ltd. The concept is to involve every club in our district in this initiative. Each Rotary Club can participate by identifying a school and fixing a date on which this program can be conducted for students from Std VIII onwards in the school. Our team will then conduct a cyber safety and awareness presentation followed by a Q&A session in the school. We are not confining this project only to our Rotary District 3131 but will be spreading this message beyond our District by collaborating with other Rotary Districts. The inauguration proram was held on 13th December 2011 at S.M Joshi hall and was graced by dignitaries viz DG Mohanji, DGN and Computer Evangelist Dr Deepak Shikarpur, ACP (EOW and Cyber Crime) Pusha Deshmukh, PI (Cyber Crime Cell, Pune Commissioners Office) Dr Sanjay Tungar and Rtn. Kailash Katkar Come join the movement.. Let us build a Cyber Safe New Generation, Rotary Dist 3131 Initiative.
