Kumble and Nigade are very remote villages in taluka Velhe, district Pune. Due to the nonexistence of road from the last 5 km, these villages are practically inaccessible. People suffer from poverty, unemployment, and malnutrition. The only profession is agriculture. Though rainfall is heavy, due to the nonavailability of water storage facilities, the farmers could take only one crop per year. Rotary Club of Pune South build a Bhandara near the village at the cost of Rs. 2 lacs. Villagers also contributed by working at the construction site. As a result, a large quantity of water is now stored and farmers can now take the second crop. Recently RCP South distributed seeds and saplings of various fruits, vegetables, and other crops. Taking one additional crop in a year will help the farmers earn extra income and support their families in a better way.
